Knife Gate Valve
Knife gate valves are designed mainly for on-off and isolation services in systems with high solids content in the flow. These valves are used for viscous, abrasive fluids, as well as for piping and handling of sludge.
Knife gate valves have a minimum pressure drop in the fully open position and are easy to operate. They also have a relatively low weight and are cost-effective. They are easy to disassemble and assemble due to their short L length.
Knife gate valves are valves designed to operate in the harshest environments, typically with a sharpened blade to cut through heavy liquids.
They are particularly useful in wastewater applications where corrosion is a major problem and in phosphoric acid sludge applications. Therefore, in addition to the valve design optimised for muddy media, it has a blade made of stainless steels resistant to acid and acidic liquids. This eliminates damage caused by corrosion and minimises the need for maintenance.
Knife gate valves should only be used for applications that require a fully open or fully closed position. Unless the knife gate valve is specifically designed for flow regulation, it should not be used to regulate flow.
When fluid is forced against a semi-closed blade, a vibration will be produced. This vibration will gradually wear the disc and seat. For this reason, the valve should be fully open or fully closed. In addition, knife valves are designed to open and close slowly to protect against the effects of ramming. Knife gate valves can also be produced as actuator drive system according to the need. In this case, the manufacturer should be informed. Since it is possible to work in corrosive environments, the body is painted especially with electrostatic powder paint.
